ARE YOU IN PAIN?

How a 5,000 Year Old Chinese Therapy Can Reduce Your Pain, Without the Risk of Surgery or Drugs.

Whether it’s chronic pain, new pain, back pain, leg pain, neck pain, headaches, chest pain, arm pain, wrist pain, ankle pain, hip pain, stomach pain or abdominal pain, if it’s pain – acupuncture may be able to help you!

"I can’t see a better solution to long-term chronic pain.  There is no question in my mind that acupuncture is safer to surgery or drugs."

- Dr. Bruce Pomeranz, Neurosurgeon, University of Toronto

Most people experience some degree of pain throughout their lives.  Sometimes it’s from an injury, accident, illness, posture, or an unknown cause.  It’s important to realize that pain is a warning signal.  It’s an alarm that goes off when your body is trying to tell you that something is wrong and out of balance.

Often people suffering from pain try to cover it up.  Either by ignoring the pain or taking pain killers or other medication.  But ignoring it is like ignoring a smoke detector in a house that is burning.  Or like hitting the snooze button on your alarm clock.  By ignoring it, the pain will never completely go away.

Unless the pain is treated, your body will keep sounding the alarm to remind you that something is wrong.  Eventually the pain will get worse and become chronic.

What Are Your Options?Images/42-15204977.jpg pain.jpg

Pain is not fun to live with.  And no one should have to live with it.  But what treatment is right for you?

Sometimes resting is a good option.  Especially if your pain is due to overactivity of some sort.  This may help for a while, but eventually you have to get out of bed, and the pain will likely come back.  This is because resting doesn’t address the physical imbalance and can sometime delay the recovery and can even make the pain worse.

Another popular choice is medication that dulls the pain for a short period of time.  This choice makes sense when the pain is constant and unbearable.  It may be helpful for a while, but it doesn’t address the root cause of the pain.  On top of it, medications often come with undesirable side effects that can cause other health problems.

Surgery is often promoted as another option.  At times, this approach makes sense.  But this can be expensive, risky and there is no guarantee of its effectiveness.  Often times the pain will get worse and become even harder to rectify after surgery.

Acupuncture is a time-tested (5,000 years of testing), safe, effective, natural, and drug-free way to eliminate pain.  Unlike other methods for handling pain, there are no negative side effects.  Although there are plenty of good side effects to account for.

The World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Instituttes of Health (NIH) have acknowledged the benefits of acupuncture in treating and eliminating pain due to a wide range of causes.

How Acupuncture Works to Give You Relief:

Have you heard of Qi (pronounced “chee”)?  According to Chinese medical theory, it is a vital life energy that circulates throughout the body.  Qi flows through a circuit of electro-magnetic pathways called “meridians”.

Even though the ancient Chinese doctors mapped out the pathways of these meridians thousands of years ago.  Only recently has our technology advanced enough for us to scientifically measure them.  And you know what?  Our science confirms their accuracy.  How the ancient Chinese found them and mapped them out so accurately still remains a mystery.

Meridians can also be likened to rivers flowing within your body.  Wherever a river flows, it brings with it water that provides nourishment and life to the land, plants and people around it.  Likewise, meridians transport nourishing and life-giving Qi to every cell, tissue, muscle, organ, and gland in the body.

According to Chinese theory, if Qi does not flow properly, the pain occurs, and if Qi flows freely, then there is no pain.

Think of water flowing through a garden hose… A blocked hose will not provide an adequate amount of water to nourish a plant.  Eventually, the plant will wither.

Similarly, a blockage in the flow of Qi in the body will stop your cells, tissues, muscles and organs from getting the nourishment they need.

Normally, your body will return to a good state quickly and easily.  But if the Qi flow is blocked for a longer time, the various symptoms…like pain… may arise.

How Acupuncture Lowers Your Pain…

Using fine, sterile and disposable needles into specific points, the pain-causing blockages are released and the smooth flow of Qi eases the pain.  When Qi travels freely through the body well-being and vitality abounds.

Through acupuncture, not only your pain will be decreased, but the deeper causes can be healed as well.

Your acupuncturist may also suggest other therapies that will help the process along, such as:

  • Massage
  • Stretching
  • Yoga
  • Herbal Therapy
  • Supplements
  • Dietary Adjustments
